Make sure you’re getting enough sleep. You aren’t functioning efficiently if you’re running on empty. You are more likely to make mistakes when you’re tried and unfocused, and that is of no use to anyone. Similarly, oversleeping isn’t good for you either.
Asking if something will ever amount to more doesn’t get you anywhere. If there’s something you want, go after it. You can overcome any obstacle if you have the drive and determination. Lots of people have dreams. Make yourself remarkable by turning your dreams into plans.
Don’t let other people have power over you. You are your own person, not an object to be manipulated by others. If you notice that there is one person who always seems to have an unusual amount of influence over you, take a look at how healthy your relationship is. An imbalance like that cannot be enjoyable. Be brave enough to admit that this might not be the best thing for you.
Be honest. That doesn’t mean that you have to tell everyone everything, just don’t lie. No one will be willing to trust a person who has lied to them in the past. The longer you lie, the harder it becomes to tell the truth. This applies to lies you might tell yourself, as well. If this seems challenging to you, consider the reasons why you are prone to lying.
It’s okay to cry sometimes. It’s also okay to not want people to see you cry. But it’s really not okay to pretend to yourself that you don’t ever need to. Bottling up your emotions is unhealthy. You need to release them every now and then, even if it seems like it’s for no reason at all. Cry into your pillow. No one is going to judge you for that.
How much something is worth has nothing to do with money. Make a conscious effort to appreciate the true value of things.
Be comfortable asking for help when you need it. This doesn’t mean that you should be dependent upon others to get you through, but at the same time, you don’t have to take on the world by yourself. Sometimes life can be overwhelming. Admitting this is a good first step to solving problems, no matter how huge they might seem.
Striving to promote tolerance is one of the most counterproductive things you could ever do. That’s the surest way to point out that there are people who don’t fit in. No one wants to simply be tolerated; they have the right to be accepted for who they are. You should be dedicated to promoting acceptance of everyone, all the time.
Try to avoid criticizing other people’s choices. You don’t know what reasons they have or what they were hoping to achieve. Something that might have been a painfully difficult decision shouldn’t be the thoughtless punch line to your joke.
Spend time every day doing something that makes you happy. If you cannot devote enough time to this one task, consider how much your happiness is worth. Now re-evaluate how long you can spare. I guarantee you’ll manage to find the time.
